Paired and Between are the two apps every list cites, and both work with advertising partners. Cupla is the best shared calendar. Lovewick and Agapé are the gentlest daily rituals, and they work on your own. Adeux is the French all-in-one, on iPhone only. If you want an app that finds real outings around you, pins your memories on a map and stays free of ads, that is what we are building 2Gether for, and it is not out yet.
Why another list
Search “best couple apps 2026” and you get eighteen lists. Thirteen of them are written by couple apps, and each ranks itself first. Paired and Between appear in fifteen, mostly copied from one another. So we read the store listings, the pricing pages and the privacy policies instead, on 10 September 2026, US App Store unless stated. Prices and ratings move; the links at the end let you check.
Four questions before you choose
- What do you want it for? Talking more, planning more, keeping what you live, or playing. No app does all four well, and the ones that try get heavy.
- Does it work if only one of you is convinced? Most couple apps are empty until both of you install them. A few work on your own first, and that is often how the second person gets curious.
- Who pays, and how much? Some subscriptions cover the couple, others each person. A yearly plan usually costs a third of twelve monthly ones.
- Where does your data go? Open the privacy policy and look for three words: advertising, partners, region. A free tier with ads means an ad network reads how you use the app.

Between
The veteran of the category: a private messenger for two with stickers and voice calls, shared photo albums, a calendar with countdowns and an anniversary counter. Ten million downloads on Android and a 4.8 on the App Store say most people are happy with it.
The free tier shows ads. Between Plus removes them for $2.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $26.99 for life. The privacy policy names Amazon Web Services, says data may be transferred to other regions, and lists third-party advertising companies and Google Analytics remarketing. Deleting your account goes through an email.
Pick it if you want your chat and your album in one place and do not mind ads. It does little for planning outings, and reviewers find the interface dated.
Paired
One question a day, and your answers stay hidden until both of you have replied. Around it, more than a thousand quizzes and courses written with therapists, on money, intimacy or the first year with a baby. It is the most cited app in every list, and the one with the most ratings.
The free tier is the daily question. Premium costs $14.99 a month; the yearly plan is $74.99 on the store and “$79.99 per couple per year” on their site, and one subscription covers both partners. The policy says data may be stored outside the United Kingdom or the EEA and that the company works with third-party ad networks. It works on your own for inspiration.
Pick it if talking is the goal and both of you will play along. Regular users say the questions start repeating after a few months.
Lovewick
A deck of conversation cards, 750 date ideas gathered from other couples, reminders about your partner they call forget-me-nots, and a timeline of memories. It is warm, simple, and usable alone.
The free tier gives one card a day; it used to give ten, which the reviews have not forgiven. Plus costs $9.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Data is processed in the United States, Google Analytics is named, and you can delete your account in the app. Links to restaurants and hotels may earn them a commission.
Pick it for conversation prompts and gift reminders. The Android version is rated 3.5, far below the iPhone one.
Cupla
A shared calendar built for two: it syncs your Apple, Google or Outlook calendars, adds to-dos and grocery lists, key dates, widgets and an assistant that finds a free evening. Half a million couples, they say, and the reviews describe it as the app that ends the “when are you free?” argument.
The free plan is the most generous in this list; premium mostly widens how far you can see into your partner’s calendar, from $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year, one subscription per couple. No ads, no selling, deletion in the app. The policy does not say where the data is hosted.
Pick it if logistics is the problem. It has no ideas of its own and does little for memories.
Flamme
Daily questions, more than a thousand quizzes, widgets that count your days together, and an AI coach in several moods. The free tier is a real one: questions, quizzes, a bucket list and photo memories.
Premium is $12.99 a month or $44.99 a year, and the site does not say whether it covers both partners. The privacy policy, last updated in March 2023, places servers in India, Ireland and the United States and mentions targeted advertising. Reviewers like the quizzes and complain about the notifications.
Pick it if you like quizzes and an AI to talk to. Read the policy first: it is old and vague.
Adeux
The French all-in-one: a chat with reactions and voice notes, a shared album, a calendar, eight widgets, a daily question, date ideas you swipe, time capsules, live location and competitive mini games. Everything, in one app, without ads.
The free tier is capped at 50 messages a day, 50 photos and 3 calendar events; capsules, battles and location are premium, at €4.99 a month or €29.99 a year, one subscription for two. Data lives on Google’s Firebase, region not stated, and the account is deleted in the app. It needs both partners, and it does not exist on Android.
Pick it if you want everything in one French app on two iPhones. It has no public rating yet.
Amorno
Connection cards, more than four thousand questions in seven game modes, a memories timeline, voice notes and a wishlist with a surprise mode. Everything is unlocked for fourteen days, then the core stays free.
Premium is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year and covers both partners. The policy is the clearest of the list: servers in the European Union, no ads, no selling, no training of AI on your data. The app is very young, with no public rating yet.
Pick it for question games with a privacy-first stance. Expect a few rough edges.
OurCouple
A couple card with your days together, a compatibility score and a virtual pet that grows with your daily rituals, twelve games and quizzes, an album, widgets and sealed notes. The App Store listing also mentions a memory map.
There is no free tier beyond a seven-day trial: $6.99 a week or $49.99 a year, for both of you. No ads, analytics hosted in the EU, deletion by email. Twelve ratings on the App Store and a hundred installs on Android: it is a beginning.
Pick it if a pet and a streak motivate you. Wait a little if you want something settled.
Couply
Personality and relationship quizzes, love languages, attachment styles, a daily question, date ideas and more than a hundred courses, with an AI coach. Reviewers praise the depth of the quizzes and regret that the good parts are paid.
There is a free tier and a five-day trial; the yearly plan is $69.99 per couple. Data is hosted in the United States and the App Store label says usage is tracked. The iPhone app has not been updated since March 2025, though the website is active.
Pick it for the quizzes, after checking that it is still maintained.
Agapé
One question a day, vetted by a psychology researcher, revealed only once both of you have answered. Around it, a scrapbook of memories, gratitude prompts and a streak. No pressure, no game, and it works across time zones.
The daily question is free; premium goes from $9.99 to $14.99 a month with several yearly tiers, and the site does not say whether it covers both partners. Data is processed in the United States, and the policy mentions analytics and advertising partners. On your own, you get reflection questions instead.
Pick it for the gentlest daily ritual. It does nothing for planning or outings.
Love Nudge
The official app of the 5 Love Languages: take the test, link with your partner, set small goals, send nudges, watch each other’s love tank. Millions of installs, and a single $9.99 pack as the only purchase.
The app itself has no ads, but the site-wide policy allows advertising uses and sharing with partner companies, and deletion goes through an email. The iPhone app has not been updated since 2024.
Pick it to learn how the other likes to be loved. It is a test with reminders, not a place to live.
Where 2Gether fits, and where it does not
We make 2Gether, so read this part with that in mind. Here is what we could not find in the eleven apps above, and what we built ours around: a deck of real places and events around you, dealt like cards, that you swipe to like, pass or plan with a date. The only couple app we found with a venue deck is Connected, which matches you when both swipe right. Memories pinned on a map where they happened; among the eleven, only OurCouple mentions a memory map. A pixel garden with your two characters, where you bury capsules that will not open before their date. And everything works on your own before you pair up.
Here is what 2Gether does not do. No chat, because your messages already have a home. No therapists’ courses. No calendar sync. No Android yet. And no rating, because the app is not out: it is coming to the App Store. The free tier is real but has limits, five discoveries a day among them; a share is paid per person, and two shares lift the couple’s limits.
On data, we are strict: servers in Frankfurt, in the European Union; no ads, no data brokers, no trackers; we count how the app is used, never what you put in it; and your account is deleted in one gesture. Our privacy policy is written in plain words, by us.

Which couple app is the best free one?
Love Nudge is entirely free and without ads, but it only does love languages. Cupla’s free plan is the most generous for planning. Paired, Lovewick and Agapé give you one question a day for free. Adeux caps its free tier, and OurCouple only offers a trial. 2Gether is free to start, with five discoveries a day.
Does one subscription cover both partners?
Paired, Cupla, Adeux, Amorno, OurCouple and Couply say yes. Between, Lovewick, Flamme and Agapé do not state it clearly. 2Gether works the other way: a share is paid per person, and two shares lift the couple’s limits for both.
Which couple apps work on your own?
Paired, Lovewick, Agapé and Love Nudge say so on their own sites, and 2Gether works entirely solo. Adeux and Flamme need both partners. The others do not say.
Which couple apps keep your data in Europe?
Amorno states EU servers, and 2Gether is hosted in Frankfurt. Between says data may leave your region, Paired that it may be stored outside the EEA, Flamme names India, Ireland and the United States, and Lovewick, Couply and Agapé process data in the United States. Cupla and Adeux do not say.
Is there a couple app that finds real places to go?
None of the eleven, as far as we could verify. Lovewick and Adeux offer ideas, not a deck of nearby venues. Connected matches you on places when both swipe right. 2Gether deals real places and events around you, from Google Places, OpenStreetMap, OpenAgenda and Ticketmaster.
